My work with moths was centred on the fusing of the insect and its Latin name which when translated provided a visual description of the specimens. My work shows that the name is just as important as the insect itself. Drawing is the way of communicating my work between the viewer and me. Pen and Pencil are such basic materials, but they are so flexible. Pencil can so easily be smudged, rubbed or ruined. It’s as fragile and delicate as moth wings, so each mark I make counts.

A quote from Damien Hirst that resonated strongly with me: “Butterflies give me hope, they look alive when they’re dead”
